How Does Dissolved Air Flotation Work?

Dissolved air flotation is designed to remove biochemical oxygen demand, and oil and grease, total suspended solids from wastewater. It is suitable for treating wastewater with low turbidity, high saturation, high organic compound content, low oil content, low surface active chemical content or with algae enrichment. Compared to other air flotation methods, it has advantages such as high hydroelectric load and compact conditioning tank.

Working principle

In the inlet pipe of the Dissolved Air Flotation is set up a dosing port for adding the coagulant, after the reaction in the mixing tank into the bottom of the air floatation area. In addition to dosing flocculant, after the reflection, sewage enters into the mixing area of air floatation, with the release of dissolved air water mixed and touched, so that the slant plate sedimentation tank body adhered to the tiny vapor bubbles, and then into the air floatation area.

The slant plate sedimentation tank body under the action of air buoyancy force to the water surface to produce scum, the next layer of cold water through the overflow weir flow to the clear water ditch, along the pipeline discharge or into the next control parts. After the scum on the water surface of the air flotation tank accumulates to a certain thickness, it is scraped by the froth scraper into the air flotation machine sludge tank and then discharged to the sludge thickening tank.

Application

Dissolved Air Flotation is widely used in wastewater treatment in the fields of slaughtering, breeding, food, chemical plants, printing and dyeing plants, tanneries and the paper industry, and is also used as a preparatory process before microbiological treatment or as a deep process after microbiological treatment.
