Plate and frame filter press is used for the separation of solids and liquids. Compared with other solid-liquid separation equipment, the mud cake filtered by the filter press has a higher solid content and excellent separation effect. The basic principle of solid-liquid separation is: the mixed liquid flows through the filter medium (filter cloth), the solid stays on the filter cloth, and gradually accumulates on the filter cloth to form a filter mud cake. The filtrate part penetrates the filter cloth and becomes clear liquid without solids.

With the progress of the filtration process, the filter cake filtration begins, the thickness of the mud cake gradually increases, and the filtration resistance increases. The longer the filtration time, the higher the separation efficiency. Specially designed filter cloth can intercept particles with a particle size of less than 1 μm. In addition to the excellent separation effect and high solid content of the mud cake, the filter press can also provide a further separation process: in the process of filtering, it can be combined with effective washing of the filter mud cake at the same time, so that valuable substances can be recovered And high-purity filter mud cake can be obtained.

The plate and frame filter press consists of a set of filter chambers arranged alternately through filter plates and filter frames. There are grooves on the surface of the filter plate, and the protruding parts are used to support the filter cloth. There are through holes on the corners of the filter frame and filter plate, which form a complete channel after assembly, which can pass into the suspension, washing water and lead out the filtrate. There are handles on both sides of the plate and frame to support the beam, and the plate and frame are pressed by the pressing device. The filter cloth between the plate and the frame acts as a sealing gasket. The suspension is hydraulically pumped into the filter chamber by the feed pump, and filter residue is formed on the filter cloth until the filter chamber is full. The filtrate passes through the filter cloth and flows along the groove of the filter plate to the channel at the corner of the plate frame, where it is discharged concentratedly. After the filtration is completed, the filter residue can be washed with clean water. After washing, sometimes compressed air is introduced to remove the remaining washing liquid. Then open the filter press to remove the filter residue, clean the filter cloth, re-press the plate and frame, and start the next working cycle.
