DAF Technology – Ideal for High-TSS Organic Effluent

JX Filtration DAF

When it comes to treating high-strength wastewater with elevated suspended solids, Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) stands out as a reliable and cost-effective solution. A recent project showcases how DAF can effectively manage challenging effluents with Total Suspended Solids (TSS) levels exceeding 1000 ppm—predominantly organic in nature.

In this case, the facility needed to treat 100 m³/h of wastewater generated from an industrial process. The primary objective was to reduce the TSS from over 1000 ppm to below 200 ppm before the water entered the biological treatment phase using activated sludge.

DAF systems operate by dissolving air into water under pressure and then releasing it at atmospheric pressure in a flotation tank. The released air forms tiny bubbles that attach to suspended particles, lifting them to the surface for easy removal. This technology is particularly effective for separating fine particles and organic matter that are difficult to settle by gravity alone.

Our DAF units are designed for high performance, featuring stainless steel or carbon steel construction, depending on budget and application needs. They are equipped with automatic sludge skimming, integrated control panels, and customizable flow designs to suit various treatment capacities.

For industries aiming to reduce TSS efficiently before biological treatment, our DAF systems offer a proven, low-maintenance option. Whether your effluent is from food processing, slaughterhouses, or chemical manufacturing, our team can tailor a solution to meet your specific needs.
