From Test to Trust: 251 Sludge Dewatering Press for Argentina

📍 Argentina  ·  🏭 Water Treatment  ·  📦 Sludge Dewatering Press

Every dewatering project starts with a problem, but the best ones end with a smile. Let me share a recent story from Argentina that truly made our day.

The customer
A facility in Argentina needed to dewater a very specific type of sludge – a mix of calcium carbonate, quartz, and cement powder, with a solids content of only about 3%. Their daily volume was small but steady: 5 cubic meters per day. They wanted to reduce water content to make disposal easier and more economical.

The challenge
That sludge is abrasive and slightly corrosive. And at only 3% solids, it’s mostly water – so dewatering it efficiently without clogging or wearing out the equipment was no small task.

Step 1 – Client did their homework
Before reaching out to us, they ran polymer flocculation tests on their sludge. The good news? The sludge flocculated beautifully – it formed tight, visible flocks. That told us right away that a sludge dewatering press would work well, because our technology relies on good flocculation to separate water from solids.

Step 2 – Our recommendation
Based on their test results and their daily throughput, we confidently recommended our 251 Sludge Dewatering Press – a compact, reliable model perfectly sized for 5 m³/day. But we didn't stop there.

Step 3 – Material matters
Because the sludge contains cement powder, which can be corrosive over time, we offered two material options:

  • Stainless steel 316L – our top recommendation for maximum corrosion resistance and long service life.

  • Stainless steel 304 – a more budget-friendly alternative, still durable but slightly less resistant to aggressive conditions.

We explained the trade-offs clearly, so the customer could choose based on their budget and expected operating environment.

The outcome
Because of a budget limit, they opted for 304 stainless steel. We fully respected their decision and confirmed that 304 would still perform reliably under their operating conditions – it just might need a bit more care in the long run.

A clear process from start to finish

  1. Customer shares sludge sample and test results

  2. We analyse and confirm screw press suitability

  3. We recommend model 251 and discuss material choices

  4. Customer places order

  5. We manufacture and prepare for shipment

Now the unit is ready, and we can't wait to see it working in Argentina!
